Just received this email from LiveNation:

This email serves as notice that Live Nation is discontinuing its Open API program and is hereby terminating your license agreement.  You must immediately cease using the Live Nation data feed, remove implementation of the data feed from your website and delete all copies of the data feed.

Please send questions to: feeds@livenation.com

Well then, thanks for the heads up LN.  At least we knew about the LiveNation/TicketMaster merger before to move over feeds a while back.  However let this serve as a lesson for folks that relying on APIs has it’s risks.

Who really cares LN? I never knew you were even there! WOW, and even sending a second notice to confirm the first. Bet that took some real effort! Was there another price hike in tickets? Inquiring minds want to know. Who else is getting a piece of the pie this time? C’mon! Tell Us!

LOL! Seriously, the LN API was buried on their site, had no affiliate program for monetizing, and wasn’t the most elegant to use. If you wanted LN concert data though, you had little other choice without paying for it. If you want/need LN data, for some of our products/projects we moved to TicketMaster’s Affiliate program which is now picking up LiveNation’s data since their merger.

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
